Canada Skilled Occupation (NOC)

Service Details

Canada Skilled Occupation list NOC

In Canada, you have plenty of career opportunities. The country offers a lot of job prospects to skilled professionals. The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) states that skilled workers who are eligible under the Express Entry Program can contribute towards the development of the economy of Canada. The ranking and scores in the Express Entry pool are considered, and candidates with the highest scores get an edge over the others. They receive an ITA (invitation to apply) from Canada. You need to be eligible for an occupation in the Canada Skilled Occupation List to qualify as a skilled worker. Immigrants who are eligible for an occupation given in the list need to:

  •  Have a permanent and full-time job in Canada, that is offered by an employer in the country. However, you can also be eligible if you are an international student, who have enrolled for a PhD graduate program from a university in the country in the last 12 months.
  •  Have at least one year of work experience on full-time basis, or part-time experience at an equivalent level. This experience has to be under the NOC (Canadian National Occupation Classification). Under this system, the skills are categorized as managerial occupation (0), professional occupations, (type A), and professional occupations (type B).
  •  Be proficient in French or/and English, one of the official languages of Canada.
  •  Obtain at least 67 out of 100 points in GIC. In case you have lesser marks, you cannot migrate as a skilled worker. In this case, you have to select any other immigration program.
  •  When you qualify for the Canada Skilled Occupation List, you need to prove that you are financially stable. In case you have any dependent in Canada, you should also show that you can manage the expenses. Besides, you have to obtain security clearance and undergo medical tests.

Express Entry System

If you want to qualify for the Express Entry pool, you need to fulfil the requirements of any one of these programs:

  •  The Canadian Experience Class Program
  •  The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  •  The Federal Skilled Worker Program

Several skilled workers find employment in Canada each year. Given that you can fulfil the mentioned criteria, you too can find lucrative prospects in the country.  Under the Express Entry system, the applicants can find several immigration programs, that simplifies the migration process. In the past, candidates had to look for the program that would provide them with maximum points. However, the mechanism has changed and presently you simply need to submit your application through the Express Entry system. The authorities will assign you with points, based on the information furnished in the application form.  Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada publishes a list of occupations each year. You may be eligible under any of the following:

  1. NOC Skill Level 0
  2. NOC Skill Level A
  3. NOC Skill Level B
  4. NOC Skill Level C
  5. NOC Skill Level D

The candidates may submit their applications for multiple programs for immigration, if they qualify with their occupation.  You may have a look at the list of categories, under which you may qualify as a skilled worker. In the process, you will be eligible for migrating to Canada. However, you should be having at least one year of paid, continuous, full-time experience in a particular occupation. Besides, the candidate needs to furnish a reference letter, which would show that he or she has accomplished a significant number of duties. You will find them listed under the respective occupations.  Applicants should know that the list of skilled occupation can change. Each category is governed by a cap. When you get a skilled job offer from one of the Canadian employers, you will be able to circumvent this cap.
